What are the differences in humidity?

The humidity in a steam room is much higher than in a sauna. In a steam room, water is heated to create steam, which is then introduced into the cabin.

Saunas, on the other hand, have a very low humidity level. In a sauna, hot stones are used to create dry air and a high temperature.

What are the differences in temperature?

The temperature in a steam room is generally not very high compared to most saunas. A steam bath has an average temperature of about 40 to 50 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in saunas often ranges between 70 and 100 degrees Celsius. So why does a steam bath still feel very warm? That’s because of the high humidity in the cabin.

Choosing between a sauna or a steam bath?

When to choose a steam bath? A steam room has a proven positive effect on people with respiratory issues or allergies. The moist air opens the airways, and inhaling the steam can be beneficial for those with conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, or persistent coughing.

When to choose a sauna? Some people struggle with humid environments. In that case, a sauna is a better choice than a steam room. People with rheumatism or acute infections are also better off choosing a sauna. In a steam room, the heart has to work much harder than in a sauna, so individuals with cardiovascular issues are strongly advised to use a sauna instead.

Choosing both sauna and steam bath? A sauna and a steam room are different wellness experiences, but it’s certainly possible to enjoy both in one visit. Doing so allows you to benefit from the unique positive effects of each, and of course, leave feeling deeply relaxed.

So, sauna or steam bath? What will you choose?
