As you know, sauna is a blessing for both body and mind, and hemorrhoids don't have to be an obstacle to enjoy a day at our saunas. However, if you experience bleeding, it is advisable to postpone your visit. Of course, you are the best judge of this yourself. If you still want to come and enjoy, we recommend that you first consult your doctor. This will help you avoid a lot of discomfort.
Effect of sauna on hemorrhoids
Due to the heat of the sauna, blood vessels in the rectum dilate, which can lead to increased pressure on the hemorrhoids, possibly resulting in complaints.
With hemorrhoids, more or less the same rules apply as with varicose veins: if the condition is not severe, you can safely visit the sauna, provided you take a few rules into account:
-
Start the sauna with a warm foot bath, then dry your feet thoroughly.
-
Avoid the hottest spots (upper levels) in the sauna.
-
Preferably lie down; this allows the blood to return more easily.
-
Do not stay in the sauna for too long (maximum 10 to 15 minutes).
-
Take time to cool down slowly and rest for half an hour in a comfortable lounge chair or in our relaxation rooms.
No sauna because of hemorrhoids?
At Thermen you can also pamper yourself in the beauty center if you prefer not to use the various types of saunas. Enjoy wonderful massages, luxurious treatments, or refreshing facial treatments.
